ThreatLocker Launches Zero Trust AI Control to Govern AI Agent Actions
ThreatLocker's new Zero Trust AI Control (ZTAIC) offers organizations granular oversight of AI agent access and execution, enforcing a zero-trust security model for these powerful tools.

ThreatLocker has introduced Zero Trust AI Control (ZTAIC), a new solution designed to provide organizations with robust governance over the deployment and operation of agentic AI. This tool aims to empower security teams to grant AI agents precisely the permissions they require to perform their designated tasks, while simultaneously preventing unauthorized access to or actions within the broader IT environment. ZTAIC is positioned as a critical enabler for the safe adoption of AI agents, ensuring that these increasingly autonomous systems operate within a strict zero-trust security framework.
The core challenge addressed by ZTAIC lies in the inherent limitations of traditional AI guardrails. While intended to define and enforce acceptable AI behavior, these self-enforcing mechanisms can often be circumvented by evolving AI capabilities. ZTAIC tackles this by imposing external, independent controls that govern what AI agents are permitted to do. By applying security boundaries outside of the AI deployment itself, ZTAIC maintains the integrity of security perimeters, even when an AI agent behaves in an unexpected or malicious manner.
Danny Jenkins, CEO of ThreatLocker, highlighted the evolving threat landscape, stating, "The security challenge has fundamentally changed because AI agents aren’t just providing information anymore. They’re being used to take actions across an organization’s environment." He emphasized the growing need for solutions that allow organizations to embrace AI without compromising their security infrastructure, "Organizations around the world need a way to adopt AI with the peace of mind that they aren’t handing over the keys to their environments."
To streamline the implementation process, ZTAIC comes equipped with recommended policies that security teams can readily deploy. These pre-built guardrails can be further customized to align with the specific needs and configurations of an organization's environment, enabling the rapid establishment of strong operational boundaries for AI agents. This approach reduces the complexity often associated with securing advanced AI deployments.
In practice, a single request to an AI agent can initiate a cascade of actions across various applications, scripts, browsers, and other services. ZTAIC is designed to maintain security boundaries throughout these complex workflows. It meticulously controls what agents can access, execute, and connect to, ensuring that existing security protections remain effective and cannot be bypassed by the AI agent.
When integrated with ThreatLocker's existing Allowlisting and Web Content Control features, ZTAIC provides comprehensive control across the entire AI lifecycle. This includes managing which AI applications and browser-based services are permitted within the environment, as well as dictating the actions authorized AI agents can perform once operational. The solution empowers organizations to adopt AI technologies on their own terms, underpinned by zero-trust controls that ensure continuous command and oversight.
This development signifies a proactive approach by security vendors to address the unique challenges posed by the rapid integration of AI into business operations. As AI agents become more capable of taking autonomous actions, the need for specialized security solutions that can govern their behavior and prevent potential misuse becomes increasingly paramount. ZTAIC represents a significant step in this direction, offering a dedicated layer of security for the burgeoning field of agentic AI.
