Rubrik CEO: AI Agents Demand Unified Identity, Visibility, and Recovery Solutions
Rubrik CEO Bipul Sinha highlights a growing enterprise demand for integrated platforms that manage AI agent identities, provide visibility into their actions, and enable robust recovery capabilities.
The proliferation of artificial intelligence agents is creating a new frontier in cybersecurity, compelling organizations to seek unified solutions for managing agent identities, ensuring data visibility, and enabling rapid recovery. Rubrik CEO Bipul Sinha stated that customers are increasingly looking for ways to identify sanctioned and unsanctioned AI agents operating within their environments, control their access to sensitive data and tools, and effectively roll back any malicious or unintended actions.
Sinha emphasized that while point solution vendors address individual aspects of AI agent security, Rubrik aims to provide a comprehensive platform. "Instead of having our customers buy four or five point solutions and stitch them together to have complete visibility and control on AI agents, they could buy Rubik's platform, which has visibility, identity, runtime security, as well as agent rewind, all on a single platform," he explained. This strategy is being implemented through Rubrik's Agentic Cloud product, which already has over 15 paying customers.
The company views identity management as a critical area for maturation in the context of AI agents. Sinha noted that the risk to data security often stems from user interaction with data, underscoring the importance of "identity resilience." He acknowledged that Rubrik is still in the early stages of penetrating its customer base with its identity solutions, but sees significant potential.
Historically, identity recovery systems were primarily adopted by regulated industries. However, the escalating cyberattack landscape, particularly with the advent of advanced AI models, has brought identity to the forefront as a significant weakness. Sinha observed that both existing and new customers, who previously did not invest in identity resilience or recovery, are now actively seeking these capabilities.
Rubrik's CEO pointed out that AI agents can chain together low-risk vulnerabilities to create serious exploits and discover new flaws daily. In an environment where breaches are increasingly inevitable due to unpatched vulnerabilities, Sinha asserted that rapid remediation and recovery are becoming the primary battlegrounds for security. "Hackers are not breaking in; they are logging in because identity has become the weakest link in cyberattacks," he stated.
Furthermore, Sinha highlighted the threat of attackers targeting identity systems themselves. Once inside, adversaries may destroy, ransom, encrypt, or establish long-term persistence within identity systems, using them as a pivot point to attack other parts of the network. The ability to roll back and forward identity systems, while only reintroducing legitimate changes, is crucial for restoring a clean operational state.
Rubrik is betting on the convergence of data protection, identity resilience, and agent security and governance. The company anticipates that enterprises will increasingly prefer managing these critical functions through a single, integrated platform, positioning Rubrik to meet this evolving demand.
