FortiSIEM GUI Vulnerable to Unauthorized Code Execution
Fortinet has disclosed a critical authorization vulnerability in its FortiSIEM GUI, potentially allowing authenticated attackers to execute arbitrary code.

Fortinet has issued a security advisory detailing a significant vulnerability within the graphical user interface (GUI) of its FortiSIEM product. Identified as a missing authorization flaw (CWE-862), the vulnerability could permit an authenticated attacker to gain control over the system.
The flaw resides in the FortiSIEM GUI and can be exploited by an attacker who has already gained some level of authenticated access. By sending specially crafted HTTP requests to the affected system, an attacker can bypass authorization checks. Successful exploitation of this vulnerability could lead to the execution of unauthorized code or commands on the underlying system, granting the attacker elevated privileges and potentially full control.
Fortinet has identified specific versions of FortiSIEM as being affected by this vulnerability: FortiSIEM versions 7.6 and 7.5. The company has assigned the Common Vulnerability and Exposure (CVE) identifier CVE-2026-106176 to this issue. The vulnerability carries a CVSS v3.1 score of 3.4, categorized as Medium severity, with the vector string CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:H/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:L/A:L. This score indicates that while exploitation requires prior authentication, the potential impact on confidentiality, integrity, and availability is notable.
The vulnerability was discovered and responsibly reported by an external security researcher, khalooda0x, identified as Khaled ibn Al-Walid. This disclosure highlights the ongoing efforts of the security research community in identifying and reporting vulnerabilities in critical security products.
Fortinet's advisory indicates that the vulnerability is currently rated as 'Exploit Available' (E:P) and has a 'Official Fix' (RL:O) status, with a 'Confirmed' (RC:C) confidence rating. While specific details on active exploitation in the wild are not provided, the 'Exploit Available' rating suggests that proof-of-concept exploits may exist or could be developed, increasing the risk for unpatched systems.
Users of affected FortiSIEM versions are strongly advised to consult Fortinet's official advisories and apply any available patches or updates as soon as possible. Organizations relying on FortiSIEM for security monitoring and analysis should prioritize addressing this vulnerability to prevent potential compromise of their security infrastructure. The advisory can be found at https://fortiguard.fortinet.com/psirt/FG-IR-26-183.
This incident underscores the importance of regularly patching and updating security management tools, as vulnerabilities in these systems can have far-reaching consequences for an organization's overall security posture. The ability for an authenticated attacker to execute unauthorized code within a SIEM platform could lead to the manipulation of security logs, disabling of monitoring capabilities, or further lateral movement within the network.
