CrowdStrike Acquires AI Security Testing Firm Dreadnode
CrowdStrike announced its intent to acquire Dreadnode, a company specializing in automated AI security testing, to integrate its capabilities into the Falcon platform.

CrowdStrike has announced its intent to acquire Dreadnode, a company focused on automated AI security testing. This strategic move aims to bolster the CrowdStrike Falcon platform by incorporating Dreadnode's technology, which is designed to validate the security of AI systems before their deployment.
The acquisition addresses a critical gap in the market: the rapid deployment of AI models and agents without adequate security validation. Traditional security testing methods are often insufficient for the probabilistic and dynamic nature of AI, leaving systems vulnerable to manipulation such as prompt injection and jailbreaking. These vulnerabilities can lead to severe consequences, including data loss, financial damage, and reputational harm.
Dreadnode's technology offers a solution by testing AI models, applications, and agents against a suite of known attack techniques. This process identifies weaknesses and allows for fixes to be applied prior to production. The platform tests AI systems for vulnerabilities, including those related to prompt injection, jailbreaking, and multi-turn attacks, providing a comprehensive risk assessment.
Upon completion of testing, Dreadnode ranks findings by severity and maps them to established frameworks like the OWASP Top 10 for LLMs, OWASP Agentic Security, MITRE ATLAS™, and NIST AI RMF. The results are presented in a consolidated risk picture, detailing attack success rates, severity breakdowns, and other key metrics. Users can review specific attack prompts and responses, and adjust findings with human-in-the-loop oversight, with all dashboard metrics automatically recomputing.
The capabilities gained from Dreadnode will enhance CrowdStrike's existing offerings, particularly Falcon Guardian, its AI detection and response solution. Dreadnode's testing results will inform policy recommendations for Falcon Guardian, strengthening runtime protection. Furthermore, the data generated will contribute to CrowdStrike's SafeMind models, advancing research into AI security.
This acquisition follows CrowdStrike's recent moves to expand its AI security portfolio, including the acquisition of Pangea for enterprise AI use and development, and the launch of Falcon Guardian for runtime protection of AI agents. The integration of Dreadnode is positioned as a key step in CrowdStrike's strategy to provide end-to-end security for AI systems, from development through deployment and runtime.
Dreadnode is expected to be generally available within the CrowdStrike Falcon platform in Q4 FY27. The company anticipates that this integration will provide enterprises with a fast, repeatable method for testing their AI systems, ensuring greater confidence in their deployment and use.
