Booz Allen Hamilton Launches AI-Driven Threat Detection Platform, Vellox Ranger
Booz Allen Hamilton has released Vellox Ranger, an AI-driven threat detection platform designed to automate the identification of exploitable paths and vulnerabilities within enterprise infrastructure.
Booz Allen Hamilton has announced the general availability of Vellox Ranger, a new AI-driven threat detection platform that expands its suite of cyber defense products. Built upon Booz Allen's proprietary agentic AI framework, Vellox Ranger automates the identification of exploitable paths and vulnerabilities by modeling an enterprise's specific infrastructure, including its assets, topology, and existing vulnerabilities.
The platform aims to address the growing challenge of security teams falling behind adversaries who are increasingly leveraging AI to accelerate attacks. As highlighted in Booz Allen's recent cyber threat report, traditional detection methods relying on generic rules and manual tuning are insufficient against dynamic environments and rapidly evolving threats. Vellox Ranger seeks to bridge this gap by providing "detection-from-the-inside-out" capabilities, layering the latest cyber threat intelligence (CTI) onto a modeled customer environment and mapping exposures to the MITRE ATT&CK framework.
This approach generates prioritized detection logic tailored to each organization, enabling threat detection at machine speed. While AI drives the autonomous detection, Booz Allen emphasizes that human-led governance remains central to the process, ensuring enterprise cyber teams maintain control. The platform's automation is designed to reduce operational disruption, minimize attacker dwell time, and decrease costs by reducing false alarms.
"Vellox Ranger and the entire Vellox product suite are game changers, rapidly redefining how organizations quickly detect and disrupt advanced cyber threats at machine speed," stated Mujtaba Hamid, EVP and leader of Booz Allen’s product portfolio. He added that the company built its AI-powered adversary defense based on decades of mission cyber tradecraft to tackle pressing customer challenges.
Vellox Ranger is the latest addition to the broader Vellox agentic cyber product suite, which is engineered to combat AI with AI and integrate with existing technology stacks. This suite draws upon over 30 years of Booz Allen's experience in technology, tradecraft, and adversarial insights.
Other products within the Vellox suite include Vellox Reverser, which automates malware analysis and threat intelligence; the upcoming Vellox Navigator for continuous compliance monitoring; Vellox Reverser Triage for high-volume malware analysis; Vellox Striker for emulating AI-powered adversaries to test defenses; and Vellox LayerOne, a governance gateway for AI agents.
Andrew Turner, EVP and head of Booz Allen’s global commercial cyber business, emphasized the platform's relevance for CISOs facing threats that outpace human response times and increasing board expectations. "Vellox Ranger was built for that reality. It gives analysts back time they lose chasing false alarms and keeps defenses current as the environment changes," Turner said.
