Automox MCP Server 2.2 Enhances Endpoint Operations with Visual Reviews and AI-Driven Patching
Automox MCP Server 2.2 introduces visual review capabilities and AI-driven patch policy creation, offering IT teams more contextual and trustworthy control over endpoint operations.
Automox has rolled out version 2.2 of its MCP Server, a significant update to its governed agentic interface for endpoint operations. This release introduces interactive review surfaces, dedicated Patch by Severity policy creation, and live capability discovery, aiming to provide IT teams with more visual and trustworthy methods for managing their endpoints, especially when integrating AI.
The update moves Automox MCP beyond its initial natural-language query capabilities, offering IT professionals new avenues to review, approve, and act upon endpoint operations within a more contextual framework. "AI agents are only as useful as the platform coverage and governance behind them," stated Jason Kikta, CTO at Automox. "MCP 2.2 gives IT teams a more visual, more trustworthy way to bring AI into endpoint operations, without giving up the control that enterprise IT requires."
For existing users, the impact is tangible. Clayton Williams, IT Project Manager for the City of Beaumont, TX, highlighted the platform's ability to query live endpoint data using natural language, synthesize information, and generate custom visualizations that surpass traditional dashboards. This provides a clearer view of the environment and enables the answering of critical questions, even those not yet anticipated.
Key new features in MCP Server 2.2 include interactive in-host review surfaces. Supported hosts can now visually display compliance posture, patch approval queues, policy blast-radius previews, remediation reviews, and RBAC access-certification reviews directly within the assistant interface. This allows IT teams to review pending decisions visually rather than sifting through text outputs.
Another major addition is the Patch by Severity policy creation. Users can now agentically create these policies by selecting any combination of Automox severity levels. This streamlines the process, enabling teams to transition from natural-language intent to governed patch policy creation more rapidly without manual console configuration.
Live capability discovery is also enhanced, allowing the AI agent to ascertain live tool availability based on read-only modes, module filtering, credentials, and opt-in safety flags. This feature clearly indicates the exact settings required to enable specific tools, informing IT teams about available functionalities and how to unlock those that are not currently active.
Furthermore, the release includes structured fallback for unsupported hosts. While interactive surfaces render visually on supported hosts, unsupported systems will receive the same information in a clean, structured data format, ensuring consistent functionality regardless of the MCP client version.
Automox MCP Server 2.2 encompasses the Automox Console and Webhooks APIs, deliberately excluding operations that might expose secrets. This comprehensive approach provides customers with full AI power tools for Automox, rather than a limited connector or a curated set of workflows, enhancing both efficiency and security in endpoint management.
