Automox has unveiled its AI-speed Mitigation Worklet Pipeline, a new system designed to automate the process of reducing endpoint risk in the face of an escalating volume of vulnerabilities, particularly those emerging from advanced AI research. This innovative pipeline aims to drastically cut down the time between a vulnerability's disclosure and its mitigation, shrinking it from the typical days or weeks to mere minutes or hours.
Since 2019, Automox Worklets have been instrumental in managing risk across billions of policy executions and millions of endpoints. A Worklet is defined as an automation that performs verifiable actions on an endpoint, such as enforcing security configurations, deploying software, or addressing vulnerabilities. Given that many of the latest vulnerabilities, especially those discovered through AI-assisted research, are not immediately patchable, effective mitigation strategies have become a critical component of cybersecurity risk management.
The new pipeline empowers IT and security teams with the speed and confidence needed to respond to unpatchable vulnerabilities that necessitate endpoint configuration changes or temporary workarounds. The increasing sophistication of AI-driven vulnerability discovery tools has led to a surge in identified risks, as evidenced by recent Patch Tuesday releases that have set new records for the number of CVEs disclosed. However, the challenge has always been the time lag between discovery and remediation, involving manual interpretation of advisories, script development, and testing before deployment.
Automox's automated pipeline addresses this bottleneck by using AI to evaluate each unpatchable vulnerability and draft a corresponding Worklet. This AI-generated mitigation can then be prepared for release within hours of the vulnerability's disclosure. Crucially, before any Worklet is made available to customers or added to the Automox Worklet Catalog, it undergoes rigorous quality and security checks, including human review and extensive testing.
Vetted and human-approved Worklets are published to the Automox Worklet Catalog, where they can be easily searched by CVE number or by the 'Mitigations' category. Customers retain full control over their security posture, deciding which Worklets to deploy, which endpoints to target, and when to execute them. This ensures that automated mitigation aligns with organizational policies and operational needs.
