Android's November 2026 Updates Patch Over 200 Vulnerabilities, Including Critical RCE
Google's November security updates for Android address more than 200 vulnerabilities, with a critical flaw in the Framework component allowing for remote code execution without user interaction.

Google has released its November 2026 security updates for the Android platform, resolving a significant number of vulnerabilities, totaling over 200 across various components. This extensive patch release includes two dozen critical-severity issues, underscoring the ongoing need for diligent security maintenance on Android devices.
The first wave of fixes, designated with the 2026-11-01 security patch level, addresses 119 security defects. These vulnerabilities were found within the Android runtime, Framework, and System components. The Framework component alone received patches for 65 flaws, while the System component was addressed with 53 fixes. Additionally, a high-severity information disclosure bug in the Android runtime was also resolved.
Of particular concern is a critical security vulnerability identified within the Framework component, tracked as CVE-2026-58868. Google explicitly warns that this flaw could enable remote code execution (RCE) with no additional privileges required and, crucially, without any user interaction. This makes it a prime target for attackers seeking to compromise devices surreptitiously.
Beyond the Framework, the System component also saw critical-severity vulnerabilities patched. These included critical RCE, elevation of privilege (EoP), and denial-of-service (DoS) flaws, further highlighting the breadth of security improvements in this update. Google noted that some of these fixes were proactively rolled out earlier through Google Play system updates.
The second part of the November 2026 security updates, associated with the 2026-11-05 security patch level, tackles an additional 97 bugs. These fixes are distributed across various hardware-specific and core system components, including Kernel, Arm, Imagination Technologies, MediaTek, Unisoc, and Qualcomm. While many of these address high-severity issues, a notable portion, over a dozen, specifically target critical-severity weaknesses in subcomponents such as Bluetooth, pKVM, HID, and modem components from MediaTek and Qualcomm.
In addition to the core Android platform, Google also issued security bulletins for Android XR and Wear OS. The Android XR update includes a fix for a high-severity flaw in its Framework, while the Wear OS update addresses two high-severity issues within its Framework and System components, indicating a comprehensive security effort across Google's operating system ecosystem.
Users are strongly advised to ensure their Android devices are updated to at least the 2026-11-05 security patch level to benefit from these crucial fixes. The sheer volume and severity of the patched vulnerabilities emphasize the dynamic threat landscape and the importance of timely software updates to protect against potential exploits.
