Malicious code in alipclutch-baileys (npm)
Details
**Severity:** Critical **Affected versions:** `= 8.6.60` ## Source: amazon-inspector (81b0a0abb82a50d7f1228c5094619ccaca0223ca767731d2a91f926f04682c1f) This package is a fork of the Baileys WhatsApp library. lib/Socket/messages-send.js constructs a network destination via String.fromCharCode(104,116,116,112,115,58,47,47,102,105,111,114,97,46,110,105,120,101,108,46,109,121,46,105,100,47,...), which decodes to https://fiora.nixel.my.id/. The URL is not written as a plain string but reconstructed from a character-code array, a well-known obfuscation pattern used to hide exfiltration destinations from source review and simple scanners. The host fiora.nixel.my.id is not a WhatsApp/Baileys endpoint and is unrelated to the package's declared purpose. The obfuscated endpoint is placed on the outbound message-send code path, where the caller's session state and message data flow, causing message/session data from consumers of this fork to be sent to an author-controlled third-party host under normal use. --- Credit: [OpenSSF](https://github.com/ossf/malicious-packages) ([source](https://github.com/ossf/malicious-packages/blob/8f52b84c97de7e28dedbd5766a5ad7b5a11fa9cd/osv/malicious/npm/alipclutch-baileys/MAL-2026-12108.json)) **References:** - https://github.com/ossf/malicious-packages/blob/8f52b84c97de7e28dedbd5766a5ad7b5a11fa9cd/osv/malicious/npm/alipclutch-baileys/MAL-2026-12108.json - https://www.npmjs.com/package/alipclutch-baileys/v/8.6.58 - https://www.npmjs.com/package/alipclutch-baileys/v/8.6.59 - https://www.npmjs.com/package/alipclutch-baileys/v/8.6.60 - https://www.npmjs.com/package/alipclutch-baileys/v/8.6.75 - https://www.npmjs.com/package/alipclutch-baileys/v/8.6.77 - https://github.com/ossf/malicious-packages/blob/c34770d899b0c88f6643ca0850c10d12436518c4/osv/malicious/npm/alipclutch-baileys/MAL-2026-12108.json - https://www.npmjs.com/package/alipclutch-baileys/v/8.6.61
