Malicious code in testtestkjkldfnjdfn (npm)
Details
**Severity:** Critical **Affected versions:** `= 1.0.0` testtestkjkldfnjdfn ships nebula.js, byte-identical to the nebulajs-api payload, and a preinstall.cjs that is a single opaque Function(...) call decoding XOR-encrypted code at install time. It is a new name for the nebulajs-api (MAL-2026-17220) campaign; the file hashes below match that record's evidence. The package presents itself as an ordinary utility, so the code runs on import or install without the user knowing. --- Credit: [OpenSSF](https://github.com/ossf/malicious-packages) ([source](https://github.com/ossf/malicious-packages/blob/23ba843b4a773277fa7a4a51240e83cd70ea2a45/osv/malicious/npm/testtestkjkldfnjdfn/MAL-2026-18697.json)) **References:** - https://github.com/ossf/malicious-packages/blob/23ba843b4a773277fa7a4a51240e83cd70ea2a45/osv/malicious/npm/testtestkjkldfnjdfn/MAL-2026-18697.json - https://osv.dev/vulnerability/MAL-2026-17220 - https://www.npmjs.com/package/testtestkjkldfnjdfn - https://github.com/advisories/GHSA-j4mg-x22p-3q6m
