Malicious code in peas-tea-curut (npm)
Details
**Severity:** Critical **Affected versions:** `= 3.2.2` Part of a self-republishing campaign: the package ships autopublish2.js, which in a loop gives the package a new random name, bumps its version, rewrites package.json and runs `npm publish` to publish the package again under the new name. Self-replicating publication is the propagation step of a registry worm and fills the registry with copies. Version examined: 3.2.2; tarball SHA-256 e887a49dfe5c01208b4dc497890226822f1e98ffce96b2c7125b5b5a569fb39c. --- Credit: [OpenSSF](https://github.com/ossf/malicious-packages) ([source](https://github.com/ossf/malicious-packages/blob/96784445b5d8dfec9ef357a890e7db920b562f09/osv/malicious/npm/peas-tea-curut/MAL-2026-18664.json)) **References:** - https://github.com/ossf/malicious-packages/blob/96784445b5d8dfec9ef357a890e7db920b562f09/osv/malicious/npm/peas-tea-curut/MAL-2026-18664.json - https://github.com/advisories/GHSA-7q53-6jpr-rhpp
