Details
**Severity:** Critical **Affected versions:** `= 2.34.2` ## Source: kam193 (7078a9b4fc2be32cbeb1f2c20ec67834c8e293bd410ceeb4842cacd8340d9835) Installing the package or importing the module exfiltrates basic information about the host, and the package has no other purpose. --- Category: PROBABLY_PENTEST - Packages looking like typical pentest packages, but also anything that looks like testing, exploring pre-prepared kits, research & co, with clearly low-harm possibilities. Campaign: GENERIC-standard-pypi-install-pentest Reasons (based on the campaign): - The package contains code to exfiltrate basic data from the system, like IP or username. It has a limited risk. - The package overrides the install command in setup.py to execute malicious code during installation. --- Credit: [OpenSSF](https://github.com/ossf/malicious-packages) ([source](https://github.com/ossf/malicious-packages/blob/744ae1d9c9dd0cb76c8e2d2c8e1a3ba80f10d0de/osv/malicious/pypi/requests-asetwe/MAL-2026-16269.json)) **References:** - https://bad-packages.kam193.eu/pypi/package/requests-asetwe - https://github.com/ossf/malicious-packages/blob/744ae1d9c9dd0cb76c8e2d2c8e1a3ba80f10d0de/osv/malicious/pypi/requests-asetwe/MAL-2026-16269.json - https://github.com/ossf/malicious-packages/blob/44c218ef24cf0a946ee5662e20e1cd59a1e6a7b6/osv/malicious/pypi/requests-asetwe/MAL-2026-16269.json - https://pypi.org/project/requests-asetwe/2.34.2 - https://github.com/advisories/GHSA-38mf-xcf2-88cp
