CVE-2026-8708

CVE-2026-8708

Description

The Genzel breadcrumbs plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Cross-Site Request Forgery in all versions up to, and including, 1.2. This is due to missing or incorrect nonce validation on the _options_page function. This makes it possible for unauthenticated attackers to update the plugin's breadcrumb configuration, including templates, delimiter, home label, home URI, and breadcrumb rules via a forged request granted they can trick a site administrator into performing an action such as clicking on a link.

Cross-Site Request Forgery in Genzel breadcrumbs plugin for WordPress allows unauthenticated attackers to modify breadcrumb settings.

Vulnerability

The Genzel breadcrumbs plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Cross-Site Request Forgery (CSRF) in all versions up to and including 1.2. The _options_page function lacks proper nonce validation [1], allowing an attacker to forge requests to update plugin settings.

Exploitation

An unauthenticated attacker can craft a malicious request that, when triggered by a site administrator (e.g., clicking a link), modifies the breadcrumb configuration including templates, delimiter, home label, home URI, and breadcrumb rules [1].

Impact

Successful exploitation leads to unauthorized changes to the plugin's breadcrumb configuration, potentially altering site navigation and introducing misleading links [1].

Mitigation

No fix is available in the current version 1.2. Users should monitor for an update or consider removing the plugin until a patched version is released [1].
