Attack vector
An authenticated attacker sends a crafted POST request to ajax/statistics.php with malicious SQL injected into the tick_id or f_tick_id parameters. Because these values are concatenated unsanitized into SELECT statement WHERE clauses in the statistics rollup queries, the attacker can alter query logic to extract, modify, or destroy database contents. The attack is network-accessible (HTTP) and requires only low-privilege authentication; no special configuration is needed.
Affected code
The vulnerability exists in ajax/statistics.php where the tick_id and f_tick_id POST parameters are used directly in SQL WHERE clauses without sanitization. The patch [patch_id=1260406] also fixes a related SQL injection in incs/mail_form.php line 536 where raw $_GET['ticket_id'] was concatenated into a SQL query. The patch does not show the diff for ajax/statistics.php itself, only the incs/mail_form.php fix and numerous XSS fixes across other files.
What the fix does
The patch [patch_id=1260406] addresses the SQL injection by wrapping the raw $_GET['ticket_id'] with intval() in incs/mail_form.php line 536, which coerces the value to an integer and eliminates any SQL syntax injection. The commit message explicitly states this fix. The same commit also applies htmlspecialchars() or intval() to dozens of other parameters across 22 files to fix additional XSS vulnerabilities, but the SQL injection fix is specifically the intval() wrapping on the ticket_id parameter used in the SQL query.
